About Me

Me and my puppy Luke

Hello! My name is Dani, and I am a 20-something year old dog aficionado. I live in Arizona with my two German Wirehaired Pointers, Bobbi and Luke, and four chickens. Nearby, my mother raises Irish Wolfhounds. Our dogs are an integral part of our family, and I cannot imagine life without them. My family has been training and breeding animals for many generations, first horses, now dogs. Since the day I was born, I have been immersed in dog training and care.

When I was about 10 years old, I got my first show dog, Zin. She was a crafty little corgi, and taught me a lot about obedience training and showmanship. I began competing in Jr. Showmanship, and became one of the top juniors in the nation with my Aussie, Fox. Through the years, I have worked for numerous professional handlers, and handled many dogs for others. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I have taught handling classes, worked in vet’s offices, and groomed far too many show dogs. I’ve finished several AKC Champions, and a few obedience titles. In these many years, I have gotten to know many different breeds, and finally found that German Wirehaired Pointers are a great choice for me.

I started this blog to help teach people about breeding dogs, training tips, and competing in performance events. I also hope to counteract the lies that have been spread about the nature of dog shows and dog breeding. Responsible breeders and trainers vastly outnumber the few puppy mills and unscrupulous competitors that the media portrays, but responsible breeders are not in the limelight.
